"INVERTED ELECTRIC MOTORS" ARE SHOWN MOUNTED ON A FULL SIZE CONVERSION VAN. ALL ELECTRIC AND SENSOR WIRES ARE OUTSIDE THE AXLE IN FLEX CONDUIT. FINS ON THE MOTOR HOUSING WERE LATER REMOVED. THIS VEHICLE IS SHOWN WITHOUT SHOCKS FOR BETTER VIEWING. VAN THUS MODIFIED, WITH TWO PASSENGERS WEIGHED 5500 POUNDS. THE BIG "BOXIE" VAN WAS USED BECAUSE IT HAD A CHASSIS AND PLENTY OF ROOM BOTH INSIDE AND UNDERNEATH FOR MODIFICATIONS.
NOW YOU SEE THE FULL SIZE PROTOTYPE "INVERTED ELECTRIC MOTOR"AND IT FITS INTO A 15" WHEEL.
SIGNIFICANT INSTRUMENTATION WAS INSTALLED. ROAD AND DYNAMOMETER TESTING WAS MEANINGFUL WITH REAL TIME VISUAL RESULTS. EXAMPLES OF INSTRUMENTS: LIVE VOLT METERS FOR EACH WET 12 VOLT DEEP CYCLE BATTERY. OTHERS INCLUDE, TOTAL VOLTAGE FOR ALL BATTERIES, TEMPERATURE SENSORS FOR TWO BATTERIES AND TEMPERATURE SENSORS FOR EACH MOTOR. ALL WERE CONNECTED TO THE MICROPROCESSOR. AC AND DC AMP METERS FOR TOTAL LOAD. TWO BATTERIES WERE CHOSEN TO MONITOR A SINGLE CELL'S VOLTAGE. THESE INSTRUMENTS ALONG WITH OTHERS ALLOWED FOR IN-DEPTH TESTING OF THE "INVERTED MOTORS".
STAINLESS STEEL, NON-MAGNETIC THRU BOLTS HOLD THE ROTATING PORTION OF THE MOTOR TOGETHER. USING THESE BOLTS, SINCE THEY TRAVEL THRU THE ACTIVE PART OF THE "INVERTED ELECTRIC MOTOR" RESULTS IN BETTER MOTOR EFFICIENCY.
